Guacamole

Made guacamole today :) Somehow Mexican avocados are cheaper here in Singapore than in the States.

Still Sick

We are so lucky that Olin ended when it did. If we were to end a week later, we would be stuck in Logan right now :( Pray that everyone stuck at the east coast airports gets home safely!
Instead, I am enjoying the tropical weather :) and the food, hehe.

This is roti prata, a kind of Indian pancake(?).  It is usually eaten with curry. Quite a common breakfast food.

I took a stroll at a local park, here are some pictures of typical Singapore view.

This is Pasir Ris Park. 'Pasir Ris' stands for 'white sands' in Malay. The park is right next to a long stretch of beach along the eastern end of Singapore. It is not the prettiest of tropical beaches but it is free and easily accessible.

Once the trees clear up, the beach is in plain sight. There are often people flying kites against the ocean wind because it is so strong. The kite(r?) in that picture is only a toddler!

Coconuts! Om nom nom... I wanted to buy one but they only had the Malaysian variety... which aren't tasty. If you ever come to the region, try the Thai coconuts. Those are the best!

Found a coconut shoot growing! :)

This is a Kelong. To quote wikipedia, a Kelong (sometimes spelt Kellong) is a Malay word to describe a form of offshore platform built predominantly with wood, and can be found in waters off Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia, while only a handful remains around Singapore due to rapid urbanisation.

It is often built as a fishery. The fisherman lives on the Kelong and only comes ashore to buy necessities.

I couldn't stay for long because the wind was not helping my cough. But it was still great to go out and relax  :)

Electronics and IT show

So much fancy stuff! Technology is developing so fast!

Asia's biggest product => People. (To be fair, Singapore is not USUALLY so crowded.)

We were there to get me a camera(I left mine in the States) and (perhaps) a TV. In the end we got both. I got a sketchy Olympus camera and we also got an LG 46in LED TV. <3

I learnt a lot of new stuff at the show. I didn't know about 3D TVs or HDMI cables. There were opened TVs to show the difference between LED, LCD and plasma display panels. There was also a frigging BadAss Monster TV by SamSung. It was HUGE (65in??) and paper-thin. I was gawking and drooling all over it lol.

Merry Christmas everyone

Merry Christmas! It is great to be home at last! My flight was delayed for 2 hours along the way but everything else turned out fine. I am still on jetlag so I didn't do anything today.

Dad cooked my fav dishs. I made dumplings with my mom. Homemade dumplings are SO GOOD. There's no comparison to any restaurant-bought dumplings. The skin are a lot smoother and the filling contains my favourite spices. So good! <3

Too much good food, too little stomach space.

First Post

I am going back to Singapore today. It is going to be a long break from Olin because I am studying away in Korea next semester. I cannot decide what my feeling is now... On one hand, I am relieved to be FINALLY off-campus, after over a year and half. On the other, I do love this place. I will miss the life, the culture and the people very very much.

Kudos to Google. They paid for free wifi access on Delta flights. I am actually writing this thousands of miles up in the air. It is amazing how much difference internet access can bring to a flight experience. I only wish my battery can last forever. If only they have power plugs on the plane! (Some do... I have been on a KLM plane that has power plugs right beside the monitor, a lot like the Olin microwave plugs. But then I didn't have internet at the time.)

I want to document my out-of-olin experiences here. I am a really LAZY person though so I don't know how long it will last. But if there are people reading it, I will be more motivated to write and post stuff.. ^_^ So keep me motivated!
